Now, this is not mandatory, you don't absolutely need a Logo, but it does help a bit. What is this logo? This logo can be something like a nice looking text URL or a graphics image. It will make your website different from the others, setting a part from the competition.

Making a website logo can be done professionally or by yourself. Of course that if you design it yourself it's cheaper, but doing it professionally is not as expensive as it may seem.

Website Basics #2: The Slogan
Right along your website name/logo should be your slogan or tagline. This is another way of making your website more memorable. This tagline should be short and catchy, just like they do it in advertising. It should say exactly what your website is all about.

This will not be a guide on how to make it, but why it's important. It gives you association. People will remember that tag-line and through that, your website.

Website Basics #3: Privacy Statement
This is mainly for commercial websites, as they will give you trust and increase the website conversion rate. The privacy statement explains what information is being collected by the website, how it's being collected and safeguarded, and how it'll be used. Website Basics #4: Contact Information
Imagine you're in a website that is selling products, but you still have some doubts on the product. You'll obviously be looking for contact information to ask the question.

As an affiliate webmaster, providing onsite contact information helps you a lot, as many are forcing users to get out of the website to find the answers they're looking for. So you're driving traffic AWAY from the website!

One thing I hear a lot is that some people think that it drives a lot of spam. Sure you may get some, but if a real user actually takes the time to email you a question, that means that they are interested in some products on your website. Answer fast and with all the info they want and you just got yourself a sale!

To avoid the spam problem, you can always use a form instead of an e-mail link and that way all those unwanted e-mails will be reduced: a lot!

Website Basics #5: About Us
An about us page is all about trust. Giving that extra info on which you are, why you're doing this, what your qualifications are will help you build a trust relationship and help your potential customers find out why you're doing what you're doing. It gives you authority to talk about the subjects you're discussing.

Website Basics #6: Newsletter
A newsletter gives the affiliate marketer a lot of power. If a user lands on your page and likes the contact, you should allow him to sign up for the newsletter where you keep them updated on changes. It's a way of getting more visits from time to time.
